Least Impactful Oil and Gas Exploration (Bill Powers, 2005)

The Comprehensive Extended Reach Drilling (ERD) study for Block 56 is an analysis of how extended reach drilling (ERD) could be used to decrease the impacts of oil development. The technology would greatly reduce the cultural and environmental impacts of drilling on and near an indigenous reserve with potential indigenous populations living in voluntary isolation. It is excellent background on the subject and contains a number of references on ERD and its use in different environments.
